snacks!

So for the past few months I’ve been on a somewhat rigorous weight-loss diet cos I could no longer tolerate being over-weight. Having grown out of almost most pairs of jeans and left with nothing except black in the closet to wear, starting to feel my belly fats jiggling as I run and more importantly noticing that my health was slightly deteriorating was a wakeup call for me that should I continue to put on the pounds at that rate I’m gonna suffer when I get older..

Hehe.. I’ve lost quite a bit of weight by now but I’m still in the process of working hard to lose another 4 to 5 kg.. I don’t want to be stick thin and will never achieve that anyways, I just want to look NORMAL and MOST IMPORTANTLY I want to be HEALTHY, both physical and mentally la of cos haha..

I might have had a little bit of ups and downs during the past few months, especially during my one month trip to Beijing in June.

Couldn’t resist the cheap and delish roadside barbeque at night washed down with a can of sprite or occasionally a can of chilled beer. And the cheap as hell ice creams I used to already love as a child before I moved to Singapore. How to resist??? So much great food that you just can’t find in Singapore, even if can find it’s also not as cheap and delish..

Now I miss eating and saying “Yes! Yes! This taste like childhood!!”. LOL.

I gained close to 2kg during the first 2 weeks in Beijing but I took a bit of actions and returned to the same weight when I came back to Singapore la.. Phewp!!

But now I have gained a bit of the weight back again.. Opps…

Nonetheless, snacking is good ma haha can help to vent all your anger and can have a good mood afterwards. But eating all the ‘naughty’ stuff will make you become super fat.. So everything in moderation ok? >.<

So these are the few (or shall I say a lot LOL) favourite snacks of mine, some I used to enjoy and most I still love now.. Some of these are found in China only though! Haha too bad for greedy pigs like me.. T.T But can always search for alternatives and substitutes here. :D

My ultimate favourite indulgence!!

I wish I could say that I’ve gotten over this trans fat and sodium loaded goodness but to be honest I still have half a pack left from last night’s late night snacking.. *shy*

If I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life (without worrying about being fat), this would be it!

Lay’s!!

I used to not like tortilla chips cos I feel they taste too corn-y and too grainy.

But I really like this one after trying it once from my ex-company’s pantry.

Must show you pictures of how the pantry looks like. Better than 7-11. Next time.

Btw: Please all these munchies in big family packs!!

Save those wrappers!

I’m a glutton in disguise as an eco-friendly advocate. :P

The company’s pantry was always replenished daily so usually I was the one stealing all the kitkat bars to munch behind my desk and even brought some back for my friends.. Hehehe..

Don’t like the green tea one and anyway it’s disgustingly expensive so it’s not realistic enough for me to binge on LOL… Opps… Did I let my binging habits out again? ._.”

After leaving the company last year, I turned to twirl instead cos I feel that twirl doesn’t taste as sweet as kitkat so that means I can have more of it at one go..

It’s like a replica of flake that I can’t find in Singapore.

Though they taste very similar and both are from Cadbury, I rmb flake to be flakier.. -.-

Me cannot find you!

These were my past favourites but now I find them sickening already. That’s probably the indication that I’ve had too much of these..

This one is supposedly to be a “healthy” snack la cos it’s baked I think, but rmb anything they advertise as healthier cos it’s non-fried or has fewer calories, they add in a load more of sodium and flavourings so it doesn’t taste yucky.

Peeled checknuts ready to be eaten out of the pack. Can get chestnuts readily when I was in Beijing but it’s harder in Singapore, usually I can only find in Pasar Malams so these are really convenient!

Btw, NTUC is having a promotion on my favourite brand. A pack for $1

I think this might be the best tasting product from Khong Guan! Though the biscuits and mint cream might not taste as ATAS, but I think it taste great for its price! And the chocolate coat makes it super shiok with a cup of milo or hot chocolate..

And speaking of hot chocolate, my favourite will be this!! Cadbury taste great too but swiss miss is slightly cheaper and the milk chocolate one has marshmallows!

One trick to prevent the marshmallows from melting away too fast is to pour in hot water but not boiling water. That way you

OMG one thing I LOVE to do in Beijing is to shop in their MEGA GIGANTIC ENORMOUS HUMONGOUS SUPERMART… LOLL..

Seriously any supermarket that you find in the mall is HUUUGE… And my favourite hangout place there would be the tidbits alley.. Hehehe…

And don’t be too shocked if it’s your first time there cos they have all sorts of crazy snacks in all sorts of packaging and flavours!!

If you think that having the golden, peanut or strawberry oreos are really cool, what about fruity flavoured oreos?? They have mango orange, raspberry blueberry and melon with sth I forgot what (I rmb the other fruit was pink though.. So I guess maybe strawberry?).  And they also have other crazy crazy shit (please excuse my excitement) like birthday cake flavour and ice cream flavour.. I mean I don’t even get it.. What are birthday cakes and ice cream supposed to taste like? I thought that there’s like no fixed flavours for these things?? LOL… but it’s still really cool!!!

I remember Mcdonald in Singapore used to have pineapple pie too but now it’s left with apple pie only, right? But Beijing got! Hehehe…

In Beijing they have all sorts of crazy flavours like coconut, banana, red bean, peach but not all the time la.. So I only got to try the staple flavours pineapple and yam (taro).

The yam one was really nice cos personally i’m not a great fan of yam and fret not cos the actual thing is not in that scary shade of bright purple.

There’s also a lot of other crazy flavours in other countries like oreo (the pie crust is entirely black and is stuffed with cream filling), even chocolate orange and bacon potato..

Stop drooling, no point drooling over these pies that we can’t find in Singapore, unless if you make your own.. LOL

Four leaves scones! I love cranberry and choc nuts.

Really buttery!! And dirt cheap! I think less than 90 cents.. Where to get pastries for less than a dollar in Sg??!

But it taste abit bland so might need to top some jam or cream cheese yourself.

I like it plain though!

Dirt cheap éclair from four leaves too!! Really generous with the chocolate coat but might be a bit too hard to chew when cold so wait for a few minutes before you bite into it (:

These are not exactly snacks anymore but I don’t care la.. Since I nan de blog I might as well write down all that I can think of. Hehehe.

One of the only burgers that I would order from MOS.

Yummy max! But be careful they can be super hot so don’t burn your lips!

I always top up my burger with a mos chicken!

Super big and succulent slab but I realise it tends to get really dry near the “handle area”.

Good/bad news there’s a layer of skin underneath the crust, some may like it some may not.

I like to dig it out when I da bao it back home, but when I’m out I just try to not eat the skin part cos it’s kinda gross to dissect and dig at it in front of friends..

Pontian Popiah!!

With lots of chilli and peanuts!! Hehehe.. Simply delightful (:

Ban Mian was my favourite to have for lunch in school. Always long queue for that stall!
But I prefer you mian! Cos I like soggy noodles and thinner noodles means can get soggy faster!!

Chicken katsu- don! We used to eat this in JC after lessons..

Where to find cheap katsu-don? Sumo house! We used to go to the Ang Mo Kio branch that’s within walking distance from the school.

And it’s dirt too! Look! The whole set meal for $2.90 only!!

And students get a free dish too! I rmb we were given katsu chicken, chocken cutlet and frozen strawberries before. So good right! But a few people share one serving la..

I ate this for probably 10 times in Beijing… Can be found everywhere and can order all sorts of BBQ from them, Beef, Mutton, Chicken kebabs, but my favourite is BBQ wings!! With extra chili!!  Also got BBQ chili and jiu cai (I think in sg you all call it GU CAI, the long leafy greens that looks like grass), BBQ squid and even BBQ mantou. Haha. They also sell chilled beer in bottles.

But we usually bring it back home to eat and I like pairing it with my favourite soda! Hehehe…

Hehehe..

While my brothers drink this!

Hehehe… I also got drink la… It’s like heineken's, light knd.. (:

Nope not mistaken!! Chicken wing again!! Wahahahah.. I killed a lot of birds there lol…

This one is from pizza hut! Pizza hut has a super weird Chinese name it’s called 必胜客..

Anyways, ya the chicken wings there isn’t anything special, but it’s still nice though and on every I forgot what day it’s one for one so it’s ubber cheaper plus ubber cheap!!

They also have other 1-for-1 specials everyday but no point saying cos no have in Sg! @,@

Prima deli waffles is the best! Just eating it alone without any topping is already good enough!

There’s a promotion on 10 August 2012 this coming Friday first 100 waffles selling at 20 cents only!

Omg.. So cheap must go queue at 1.30pm.. >.<

Shilin meesua!! But no oysters, chili and vinegar pls!

Extra spicy!! And I don’t like it cut into tiny pieces. If I’m taking it home, which is most of the time cos I’m (was) a closet eater, I like to ask them to leave it whole so I can bite into it like a barbarian. XD

Hahaha… Guilty indulgence max!
I always buy this together with the above 2 cos can dip into the meesua gravy!! Shiokkkk!!

I prefer the cup one though cos eating the cone means extra calories :P
Healthier alternative to satisfy your occational cravings!

I always order mine warm without sugar.. Cos again, to avoid extra calories.. >.<

Sounds so sad right but seriously I don’t mind cos I don’t have the habit and don’t like the idea of adding sugar to some drinks, soy bean milk being one.. I think it taste alright with no sugar..
 Unlike coffee..

Totally cannot stand people who add sugar into Chinese tea.. Total turnoff lo…

Don’t tell me it’s too dry or bitter or whatever excuse ok Chinese tea is Chinese tea! It’s not English tea so don’t drink it with sugar or milk.. Omg… ok chill now >.<

This one can add abit of syrup, if not too bland : :D

Great with youtiao again!!

But I don’t like dipping youtiao into soy bean milk cos the milk will become oily!! Eww.
.
I’m so picky haha..

My fav combo! Cookies and cream and black forest!

I like buying the mini Cornettos cos it’s only 60 kcalories.. But the problem is I always find myself eating 5 or 6 everytime… >.<

I really wish I could bring a box of these back from Beijing but it’s really sad to know that ice creams they melts. This thing has a waffle wrapped around it so I like to draw out the stick and hold it by the waffle and eat it upside down. And if you dono how heaven tastes like try this.. it’s creamy velvety and cold superrr yummy!! Don’t you think that only old aunties like corn ice cream k! it’s different!

I eat at least 3 or 4 daily in Beijing. Everyday no fail.

I probably bought more than 150 ice creams in Beijing. No joke! It’s that good! Haha..

There’s a mini-mart in the condo we stay in  and one time I bought all of the corn ice creams they had, about 35 of them.

Cos they run out so quickly and my grandma keep thinking of ways to hide it from others so I might as well buy more right. So funny right? Keep hiding it from others so she could eat haha…

When I went to pay the owner asked “你们家过玉米节啊?”

“Your family celebrating corn festival?”

I replied ya… HAHAHA…
Now then I realise got this kind of packaging.. But still dono can bring back to Singapore not.

Persistent :D

This is imitation!! Not as nice!

Haha.. but got other ice creams from Mengniu that’s nice.

But for corn ice cream must give credit to Yili (:

Corn ice cream with chocolate coating from korea!

I would love to try!

Another one of my favourite ice creams from China.

It’s name translated means crispy skin banana.

Taste like banana milkshake, not too milky but still creamy and smooth and very bananaeey :D

And the thin layer of white chocolate outside makes it super heavenly!

This kind of banana ice cream can peel skin how cool is that!! But taste v fake, not nice..
This one I saw on commercial on public bus tv..

A lot of youngsters shouting “我要冰+

So I also shout when I went back home and my brother went to buy for me. LOL.

This one was a GREAT recommendation from my erge

Cos I’m lactose intolerant I replace milk with yogurt for calcium but some yogurt is smelly!

Especially the ones in Singapore, cos I think it’s more angmo pai?

But this is not! And my erge said it’s like pudding so I tried and I loved it!! <3

But have to risk your life eating this la cos they previously caught people adding gelatin extracted from old leather shoes. That’s why the name“臭皮鞋老酸奶”

So many brands but all look to same, cos they trying to imitate the traditional way it’s served.

This one not “臭皮鞋老酸奶”XD

This is the yogurt that I always eat I Sg. Though it’s a bit too sweet but at least it’s not smelly so it’s my favourite by far haha..

Just found this new love it’s only 50 kcals! But it’s because they added in artificial sweeteners so be warned health freaks.

Ok that’s the end of my frigging long post... Started writing this since Friday only finished now haha..

Muack bye!

Thursday 2 August 2012

this is my more :D

(Disclaimer: Blog post below is basically just nonsensical rambling and crap, read at own risk :D)

Hi my dear blog!!

Trust me I missed you so so frigging much!! But I just find it super hard to find the time to blog. Or rather the motivation la.. Please don’t sulk k? Cos I have been thinking of you all the time!! Just that whenever I remember that I still have a blog to manage I will tell myself that I’m gonna blog the next day hehe.. And the next day will become the next next day.. Opps.

But I’m ready now, sitting down nice and proper to blog k!! Haha… Though the real reason is cos I’m now working as a 2 week temp receptionist and the job is dead boring so instead of wasting time reading Google news I might as well just blog!

Yea!!

Kk so blog about what?

Hahaha… Seriously I’m racking my brain now to think of something to blog about. Thing is all my photos are at home in my Xiao-pink (my Vaio’s name, cos my older one was called Xiao-hong >.<).. Can also upload pictures from my phone to the company’s laptop cos I have cable with me but not that nice right? Maybe I do it if I’m dead bored again next week.. Lol!

U know it’s been occurring to me that many are directed to my blog because of the Duromine blog post but just to say again (cos I’m old already and getting naggy)  I don’t want to make my blog into a Duromine-blog cos I’m not a nutrientionist, dietician, doctor, nothing of that sort.. So while I update on my weight-loss struggle I don’t want to openly advise or give opinions..

Hope that I don’t come across as cocky or bitchy know? I’m just scared I become liable if something happens or what.. Kiasi is Singapore spirit also lei.. Don’t blame me please..

*Acts cute*

It’s my lovely personal blog, just me and u.. <3 xoxo

Ok enough of mushiness..

No one sitting by my side now cos the other colleague went to IMM with manager and other 2 colleagues from HR are on leave, one on exam leave, one on medical.. I didn’t tag along cos I scared I might need the toilet later.. >.< Got big business feel now..

So I’m alone at the reception counter listening to The Beatles (on earphone of cos xD), texting on phone and blogging…

Kk I’ve got an idea. Maybe I should blog about my favourite snacks of all time haha… But I shall write it in a separate entry cos I don’t want to pollute food with my toilet details on top… RAWR.. LOL..

Stay tuned! MUACK!! XOXO

**p/s: I want dimples!! Dimples are so cute!! But I such a coward I doubt I have the guts to go for cheek piercing.. >.< LMAO

crazy exam week

OO MY GAWD..
I don’t even know where to begin with…
Goodness.. This week was a nightmare.
Totally.

Monday:
Tried studying all day but to no avail
Ended up starting revision only at 3am (tues)
Mugged till 8am in the morning
Packed up for exams at 10am
Paper was harder than expected
Didn’t manage to finish the paper could be cos of lack of time practice
Boo~

Tuesday:
Fell asleep on the train on my way back home
Slacked all afternoon at home
Napped for an hour at 7pm
Woke up and continued to slack
Had red bean pancake and coffee
Didn’t manage to get any revision done till 3am (wed) again! Lol..
Mugged all night till 8am again
Packed and left for paper
All topics I spotted on came out so paper was still do-able
Didn’t finish all questions again cos lack of practice again
Not proud of that but given that I’ve never really put in much effort in finance,
I was already happy enough to have something to actually write down >.<

Wednesday:
Felt so relieved after finance paper
Finally can get a short break till next Monday’s paper
Felt so weak and hungry after
Went to super mart to get some bananas but saw wet tissue was on sale
Got 8 big packs of wet tissue
Omg was a total regret man
Groceries were so damn heavy I couldn’t even grab on to those bags
So I stuffed part of them into my school backpack
Not a good idea either cos I had to hunch back home
By the time I was reaching home I was walking at the speed of a 90 yrs old granny
Hands were shaky
Felt super dizzy
Had to grab some food before getting home
Went to mixed rice stall, no vege at all
So went home without any food
Had one banana and fell asleep at 3pm

Thursday:
Woke up at 8am
Slept for 17 hrs omg…
Totally compensated the 2 days of sleep I missed out on
Weighted myself
Omg shocked max
Lost 2 kg from doing nothing but sleeping
Super hungry ate and ate and drank and drank
Fell asleep again at 3pm till 6pm
Am I a pig or what I sleep so much?
Continued sleeping after returning home from errand
Since tuition was cancelled, just sleep
PIG MUCH

Friday:
Wanted to go to the library to continue mugging
But…
Hehe…
Ended up cleaning up my room and doing some laundry
Wasted rest of the day away
Ate the 2kg I lost from sleeping back
T.T
Sad
Promise to go library tmr!
Haha..

Plan:
Continue mugging till Monday’s paper
After that shall shop around Expo cos Robinson’s got sale there
Got steve madden shoes.. excited! >.<
After that shall go Airport to stalk on air stewardess
WAHAHAHAHA
RMB I SAID I HAVE THIS THING FOR AIR STEWARDESS
IM GETTING SO SO EXCITED JUST THINKING
Cannot wait
LOL
Can start planning for my own overseas trip
Have to settle visa and plane ticket stuff
Can also start planning for holiday vacation with the girls!
Oyea!
Im thinking Bali…
But idk maybe could be over budget
Have to decide with the rest of the girls after exam
Will blog soon

Duromine update

Yo blog!

So here’s my second Duromine update:

I think my progress up till now is still great. Could have been better though, will elaborate later.

Started taking Duromine 30mg since 4 May, so that’s almost 4 weeks ago. But I’m only on my 22nd pill today. I missed it on 4 days cos either I overslept and it’s already after noon when I woke up or I just forgot to take it without realizing.

Since my GP advised me to only take it before noon so I just gave it a miss on days which I forgot to take the pill before 12pm, to prevent myself from feeling wide awake in the middle of the night.

Talking about GP, I haven’t gone back for consultation yet. Should have though, but I’m really busy now so I’m probably going back when I finish my prescription.

The next thing might interest you more..

So how much weight have I lost?

Drum roll pls? >.<

Lost 8kg as of today!

That’s around 18 pounds.

Sounds a lot, but seriously it’s not, and I don't even look any different. Cos actually I lost only 5kg with the help of Duromine, but I was already dieting the week before I started taking Duromine, and managed to lose the 3kg that I gained from my wisdom tooth surgery.

Yes you didn’t read it wrong, I gained 3kg from a wisdom tooth surgery. FML srsly-.-

Details below!

(OMG MY FAVOURITE SONG IS ON 987 NOW!! ^^ creep)

The first week I lost 3kg.

I was worried it was a bit too fast so I tried eating slightly more to slow it down.

Cos many sources online say that the maximum one should lose per week is 1kg/2 pounds.

If not, you are probably only losing water weight instead of burning your body fat off.

The second week I lost only 1 kg.

Problem is when I lose weight too fast I worry, too slow I also worry.

I was worried that my metabolism rate was too low because I wasn’t exercising at all.

Really couldn’t afford to go gym during my revision period. If I were to go work out for 1hr plus washing up and time needed to travel to and fro the gym, it would take me more than 3hrs, and I don’t have so much time to spare.

So I started to do some simple yoga and stretching at home.

Haha.. I’m a newbie in yoga so I just search for beginner’s yoga video on Youtube and follow along. Don’t think I’ve lost weight from yoga cos I wasn’t very consistent with doing yoga either, and I doubt such low intensity workout can burn much calories. But it’s still quite fun nonetheless, and as least can tone my muscles and maybe make me taller haha!

Third week I lost another 1 kg.

Wasn’t a lot of weight but I was already grateful enough cos I didn’t exercise a single bit that week. But I promise to get back to gyming again after my exams are over. :D

Anyways, I haven’t eaten a single bit of fast food/chips /soda/ice cream/tidbits since I started Duromine. But I’m guilty of occasionally having a piece of fried stuff over lunch, and a few candies to keep myself awake during lectures. I completely removed junk food from my diet cos I no longer have cravings for it.

packed away 2 bagful of tidbits

what's inside
don't ask me why there's a can of tuna
idk
throw away half of it, the other half is hidden in a lock n lock under my bed

Fourth week has not ended yet and if I’m consistent I would be able to lose another 1kg. But I’m abit worried.

Cos this week I’ve already broken my no junk rule, twice. I had a MOS rice burger on Friday for dinner with zw. And I had a whole mcspicy meal ytd for dinner cos I was studying at macs till almost midnight.

Singapore really needs more places opened 24hrs for studying. That way I don’t have to choose to go macs. So many other students (mainly sec sch students) were there, and the others there were watching ball.

One word:

ROWDY

Note to self:

Don’t study at macs on weekends.

Next is regarding side-effects:

I must say I’m gradually experiencing more side-effects.

But side-effects from what I’m not that certain, cos they could be due to mere weight loss alone.

Previously the only issue I had was dry mouth.

So I could easily just drink more water.

But recently it’s aggravating to dry and chapped lips, and drinking water means I have to go to the washroom more frequently, and it’s really inconvenient when I’m studying in the library all day. But seriously I shouldn’t be complaining about drinking water.. That’s lame.

I also realized I get dizzy spells every time I get out of bed, stand up after squatting down or sitting down. I know that’s kind of common even for a healthy person and harmless cos it’s due to the change in blood pressure. But I get it every single morning without fail, a few times I stumbled and almost fell.

I sound so clumsy, reminds me of that Humpty Dumpty from Puss in Boots.. LOL

So what I do is I try to roll around in bed or fiddle with my phone for a while first before hopping out of bed and it work.

The last problem, also the most troubling and embarrassing I find is… bad breath…

Ok what I saw on the list of possible side effects at first was foul taste in mouth but there was no mention of bad breath.. I mean that’s 2 completely different things right? But when I went to Google about bad breath specifically I realized I wasn’t the only one..

Though I’m not sure if others can really smell it but even if they don’t think it smells bad it can’t be fresh either. And I can’t possibly go around asking everyone to check if I really have bad breath or not right?

*Abashed*

Ok I might have done that once. :P

I used up my tube of toothpaste really fast cos I keep brushing my teeth these few days. But apparently it’s not working well so I just have one fisherman’s friend before tuition. Just in case if I really have bad breath I can spare the poor girls from it. LOL

And that was on side-effects.

Right now I can’t do much about exercising, but I guess I can improve on eating more small meals thorough the day, instead of only eating 2 big meals a day. Trying hard to work on that cos Duromine often makes me forget to eat. Sometimes I might only realize when I’m already having gastric pain cos I haven’t eaten a thing since breakfast.

It sounds crazy but I’m not lying I swear. That just happened again today. Cos my mum is not at home now so I don’t have anyone to prepare meals for me or nag at me to get out of my rooms to eat. I had breakfast at 9am today; only rmb to have dinner at 10pm. I initially thought that it was my ribs hurting, but realize it was gastric pain. >.<

And worse still I’m on pain killer now cos it’s that time of the month again. No food plus pain killer! Must change that!

I’m gonna update again another day soon, probably after my first 2 papers.

Muahh! Bye!
we coincidentally wore really similar outfits last friday
and she wore a black cardigan too
