So for the past few
months I’ve been on a somewhat rigorous weight-loss diet cos I could no longer
tolerate being over-weight. Having grown out of almost most pairs of jeans and
left with nothing except black in the closet to wear, starting to feel my belly
fats jiggling as I run and more importantly noticing that my health was
slightly deteriorating was a wakeup call for me that should I continue to put
on the pounds at that rate I’m gonna suffer when I get older..
Hehe.. I’ve lost quite a bit of weight by now but I’m still
in the process of working hard to lose another 4 to 5 kg.. I don’t want to be
stick thin and will never achieve that anyways, I just want to look NORMAL and
MOST IMPORTANTLY I want to be HEALTHY, both physical and mentally la of cos
haha..
I might have had a little bit of ups and downs during the
past few months, especially during my one month trip to Beijing in June.
Couldn’t resist the cheap and delish roadside barbeque at
night washed down with a can of sprite or occasionally a can of chilled beer.
And the cheap as hell ice creams I used to already love as a child before I
moved to Singapore. How to resist??? So much great food that you just can’t
find in Singapore, even if can find it’s also not as cheap and delish..
Now I miss eating and saying “Yes! Yes! This taste like
childhood!!”. LOL.
I gained close to 2kg during the first 2 weeks in Beijing
but I took a bit of actions and returned to the same weight when I came back to
Singapore la.. Phewp!!
But now I have gained a bit of the weight back again.. Opps…
Nonetheless, snacking is good ma haha can help to vent all your
anger and can have a good mood afterwards. But eating all the ‘naughty’ stuff
will make you become super fat.. So everything in moderation ok? >.<
So these are the few (or shall I say a lot LOL) favourite
snacks of mine, some I used to enjoy and most I still love now.. Some of these
are found in China only though! Haha too bad for greedy pigs like me.. T.T But
can always search for alternatives and substitutes here. :D
My ultimate favourite indulgence!!
I wish I could say that I’ve gotten over this trans fat and
sodium loaded goodness but to be honest I still have half a pack left from last
night’s late night snacking.. *shy*
If I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life
(without worrying about being fat), this would be it!
Lay’s!!
I used to not like tortilla chips cos I feel they taste too
corn-y and too grainy.
But I really like this one after trying it once from my
ex-company’s pantry.
Must show you pictures of how the pantry looks like. Better
than 7-11. Next time.
Btw: Please all these munchies in big family packs!!
Save those wrappers!
I’m a glutton in disguise as an
eco-friendly advocate. :P
The company’s pantry was always
replenished daily so usually I was the one stealing all the kitkat bars to
munch behind my desk and even brought some back for my friends.. Hehehe..
Don’t like the green tea one and
anyway it’s disgustingly expensive so it’s not realistic enough for me to binge
on LOL… Opps… Did I let my binging habits out again? ._.”
After leaving the company last
year, I turned to twirl instead cos I feel that twirl doesn’t taste as sweet as
kitkat so that means I can have more of it at one go..
It’s like a replica of flake that
I can’t find in Singapore.
Though they taste very similar
and both are from Cadbury, I rmb flake to be flakier.. -.-
Me cannot find you!
These were my past favourites but now I find them sickening
already. That’s probably the indication that I’ve had too much of these..
This one is supposedly to be a “healthy” snack la cos it’s
baked I think, but rmb anything they advertise as healthier cos it’s non-fried
or has fewer calories, they add in a load more of sodium and flavourings so it
doesn’t taste yucky.
Peeled checknuts ready to be eaten out of the pack. Can get
chestnuts readily when I was in Beijing but it’s harder in Singapore, usually I
can only find in Pasar Malams so these are really convenient!
Btw, NTUC is having a promotion on my favourite brand. A
pack for $1
I think this might be the best tasting product from Khong
Guan! Though the biscuits and mint cream might not taste as ATAS, but I think
it taste great for its price! And the chocolate coat makes it super shiok with
a cup of milo or hot chocolate..
And speaking of hot chocolate, my favourite will be this!!
Cadbury taste great too but swiss miss is slightly cheaper and the milk
chocolate one has marshmallows!
One trick to prevent the marshmallows from melting away too
fast is to pour in hot water but not boiling water. That way you
OMG one thing I LOVE to do in Beijing is to shop in their
MEGA GIGANTIC ENORMOUS HUMONGOUS SUPERMART… LOLL..
Seriously any supermarket that you find in the mall is HUUUGE…
And my favourite hangout place there would be the tidbits alley.. Hehehe…
And don’t be too shocked if it’s your first time there cos
they have all sorts of crazy snacks in all sorts of packaging and flavours!!
If you think that having the golden, peanut or strawberry
oreos are really cool, what about fruity flavoured oreos?? They have mango
orange, raspberry blueberry and melon with sth I forgot what (I rmb the other
fruit was pink though.. So I guess maybe strawberry?). And they also have other crazy crazy shit (please
excuse my excitement) like birthday cake flavour and ice cream flavour.. I mean
I don’t even get it.. What are birthday cakes and ice cream supposed to taste
like? I thought that there’s like no fixed flavours for these things?? LOL… but
it’s still really cool!!!
I remember Mcdonald in Singapore used to have pineapple pie
too but now it’s left with apple pie only, right? But Beijing got! Hehehe…
In Beijing they have all sorts of crazy flavours like
coconut, banana, red bean, peach but not all the time la.. So I only got to try
the staple flavours pineapple and yam (taro).
The yam one was really nice cos personally i’m not a great
fan of yam and fret not cos the actual thing is not in that scary shade of
bright purple.
There’s also a lot of other crazy flavours in other
countries like oreo (the pie crust is entirely black and is stuffed with cream
filling), even chocolate orange and bacon potato..
Stop drooling, no point drooling over these pies that we
can’t find in Singapore, unless if you make your own.. LOL
Four leaves scones! I love cranberry and choc nuts.
Really buttery!! And dirt cheap! I think less than 90
cents.. Where to get pastries for less than a dollar in Sg??!
But it taste abit bland so might need to top some jam or
cream cheese yourself.
I like it plain though!
Dirt cheap éclair from four leaves too!! Really generous
with the chocolate coat but might be a bit too hard to chew when cold so wait
for a few minutes before you bite into it (:
These are not exactly snacks anymore but I don’t care la..
Since I nan de blog I might as well write down all that I can think of. Hehehe.
One of the only burgers that I would order from MOS.
Yummy max! But be careful they can be super hot so don’t
burn your lips!
I always top up my burger with a mos chicken!
Super big and succulent slab but I realise it tends to get
really dry near the “handle area”.
Good/bad news there’s a layer of skin underneath the crust,
some may like it some may not.
I like to dig it out when I da bao it back home, but when
I’m out I just try to not eat the skin part cos it’s kinda gross to dissect and
dig at it in front of friends..
Pontian Popiah!!
With lots of chilli and peanuts!! Hehehe.. Simply delightful
(:
Ban Mian was my favourite to have for lunch in school.
Always long queue for that stall!
But I prefer you mian! Cos I like soggy noodles and thinner
noodles means can get soggy faster!!
Chicken katsu- don! We used to eat this in JC after
lessons..
Where to find cheap katsu-don? Sumo house! We used to go to
the Ang Mo Kio branch that’s within walking distance from the school.
And it’s dirt too! Look! The whole set meal for $2.90 only!!
And students get a free dish too! I rmb we were given katsu
chicken, chocken cutlet and frozen strawberries before. So good right! But a
few people share one serving la..
I ate this for probably 10 times in Beijing… Can be found
everywhere and can order all sorts of BBQ from them, Beef, Mutton, Chicken
kebabs, but my favourite is BBQ wings!! With extra chili!! Also got BBQ chili and jiu cai (I think in sg
you all call it GU CAI, the long leafy greens that looks like grass), BBQ squid
and even BBQ mantou. Haha. They also sell chilled beer in bottles.
But we usually bring it back home to eat and I like pairing
it with my favourite soda! Hehehe…
Hehehe..
While my brothers drink this!
Hehehe… I also got drink la… It’s like heineken's, light
knd.. (:
Nope not mistaken!! Chicken wing again!! Wahahahah.. I
killed a lot of birds there lol…
This one is from pizza hut! Pizza hut has a super weird
Chinese name it’s called 必胜客..
Anyways, ya the chicken wings there isn’t anything special,
but it’s still nice though and on every I forgot what day it’s one for one so
it’s ubber cheaper plus ubber cheap!!
They also have other 1-for-1 specials everyday but no point
saying cos no have in Sg! @,@
Prima deli waffles is the best! Just eating it alone without
any topping is already good enough!
There’s a promotion on 10 August 2012 this coming Friday
first 100 waffles selling at 20 cents only!
Omg.. So cheap must go queue at 1.30pm.. >.<
Shilin meesua!! But no oysters, chili and vinegar pls!
Extra spicy!! And I don’t like it cut into tiny pieces. If
I’m taking it home, which is most of the time cos I’m (was) a closet eater, I
like to ask them to leave it whole so I can bite into it like a barbarian. XD
Hahaha… Guilty indulgence max!
I always buy this together with the above 2 cos can dip into
the meesua gravy!! Shiokkkk!!
I prefer the cup one though cos eating the cone means extra
calories :P
Healthier alternative to satisfy your occational cravings!
I always order mine warm without sugar.. Cos again, to avoid
extra calories.. >.<
Sounds so sad right but seriously I don’t mind cos I don’t
have the habit and don’t like the idea of adding sugar to some drinks, soy bean
milk being one.. I think it taste alright with no sugar..
Unlike coffee..
Unlike coffee..
Totally cannot stand people who add sugar into Chinese tea..
Total turnoff lo…
Don’t tell me it’s too dry or bitter or whatever excuse ok
Chinese tea is Chinese tea! It’s not English tea so don’t drink it with sugar
or milk.. Omg… ok chill now >.<
This one can add abit of syrup, if not too bland : :D
Great with youtiao again!!
But I don’t like dipping youtiao into soy bean milk cos the
milk will become oily!! Eww.
.
.
I’m so picky haha..
My fav combo! Cookies and cream and black forest!
I like buying the mini Cornettos cos it’s only 60
kcalories.. But the problem is I always find myself eating 5 or 6 everytime…
>.<
I really wish I could bring a box of these back from Beijing
but it’s really sad to know that ice creams they melts. This thing has a waffle
wrapped around it so I like to draw out the stick and hold it by the waffle and
eat it upside down. And if you dono how heaven tastes like try this.. it’s
creamy velvety and cold superrr yummy!! Don’t you think that only old aunties
like corn ice cream k! it’s different!
I eat at least 3 or 4 daily in Beijing. Everyday no fail.
I probably bought more than 150 ice creams in Beijing. No
joke! It’s that good! Haha..
There’s a mini-mart in the condo we stay in and one time I bought all of the corn ice
creams they had, about 35 of them.
Cos they run out so quickly and my grandma keep thinking of
ways to hide it from others so I might as well buy more right. So funny right?
Keep hiding it from others so she could eat haha…
When I went to pay the owner asked “你们家过玉米节啊?”
“Your family
celebrating corn festival?”
I replied ya…
HAHAHA…
Now then I realise got this kind of packaging.. But still
dono can bring back to Singapore not.
Persistent :D
This is imitation!! Not as nice!
Haha.. but got other ice creams from Mengniu that’s nice.
But for corn ice cream must give credit to Yili (:
Corn ice cream with chocolate coating from korea!
I would love to try!
Another one of my favourite ice creams from China.
It’s name translated means crispy skin banana.
Taste like banana milkshake, not too milky but still creamy
and smooth and very bananaeey :D
And the thin layer of white chocolate outside makes it super
heavenly!
This kind of banana ice cream can peel skin how cool is that!! But taste v fake, not nice..
This one I saw on commercial on public bus tv..
A lot of youngsters shouting “我要冰+”
So I also shout
when I went back home and my brother went to buy for me. LOL.
This one was a
GREAT recommendation from my erge!
Cos I’m lactose
intolerant I replace milk with yogurt for calcium but some yogurt is smelly!
Especially the ones
in Singapore, cos I think it’s more angmo pai?
But this is not!
And my erge said it’s like pudding so I tried and I loved it!! <3
But have to risk
your life eating this la cos they previously caught people adding gelatin
extracted from old leather shoes. That’s why the name“臭皮鞋老酸奶”
So many brands but all look to same, cos they trying to
imitate the traditional way it’s served.
This one not “臭皮鞋老酸奶”XD
This is the yogurt that I always eat I Sg. Though it’s a bit
too sweet but at least it’s not smelly so it’s my favourite by far haha..
Just found this new love it’s only 50 kcals! But it’s
because they added in artificial sweeteners so be warned health freaks.
Ok that’s the end of my frigging long post... Started
writing this since Friday only finished now haha..
Muack bye!
